Every theme has more roads than it shows on the front page. Here is the rest of Dirtbag’s map — the templates that do their work off the main route.
Wrong turns
Take a wrong turn and you land on the custom 404 — plain, signposted, with a search box to get you back on the road.
Finding things
- Search — a page with a box and a few recent posts; results render on the search template.
- Archive — the master index: every post, newest first.
- Categories, tags, authors, and dates each get their own archive view; this one lands on Field Notes.
Page shapes you can pick
In the page editor’s Template panel, any page can wear a different body:
- No title — drops the page heading; bring your own.
- Wide — a roomier content column.
- Centred — content pulled to the middle of the road.
- Plain — the barest frame, closest to raw browser output.
The Colophon, Now, Links, Feeds, and Uses pages already ride their own templates, too.
None of it is hidden, exactly. It is just down the side roads, where the good stuff usually is.
